Robotics

The robotic arms and manipulators that let spacecraft build, service, sample, and move cargo — from the Space Shuttle and station arms to the sampling arms of planetary landers.

Components

  • Robotic ArmComponent

A jointed manipulator used to move cargo, service hardware, capture spacecraft, or collect samples. The Shuttle's Canadarm helped assemble the Space Station and the permanently-installed Canadarm2 services it; planetary landers carry smaller sampling arms.
