Biography

Brian Schmidt led the High-z Supernova Search Team, which independently found that the expansion of the universe is accelerating. The result, announced in 1998 alongside the rival Supernova Cosmology Project, implied that most of the cosmos is dark energy. Schmidt shared the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics.
